Chhattisgarh has signed two memoranda of understanding to expand the use of geospatial technology and logistics data under the PM GatiShakti framework, aiming to sharpen infrastructure planning and pinpoint gaps in connectivity.
MoUs have been formalised with research and data firms
The agreements were concluded with BISAG‑N and National Logistics Data Services Ltd. Both pacts were inked on August 20 during a PM GatiShakti and LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop organised by the regional commerce department and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
Chief Minister highlights a data‑driven approach
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the platform is helping officials use data for infrastructure decisions, spot connectivity shortfalls and better align industrial development. He added that the approach supports conditions for investment and sustainable economic growth.
The regional administration has brought more than 35 departments onto the system, mapping 41 mandatory data layers plus over 600 supplemental layers. It has also built 45 use cases and 30 tools to apply the system to planning and development tasks.
Practical uses are already emerging. GIS‑based mapping identifies road black spots, allowing authorities to target safety improvements. Similar data methods flag villages lacking banking services and help optimise bus routes under government schemes.

Geospatial planning also aids tourism connectivity; roughly 600 mobile towers have been installed at key sites. In Nava Raipur, about 700 acres have been earmarked under the Bhavya Scheme.
Wildlife management benefits as well. The Forest Department’s Gaj Sanket application leverages geographic data to curb human‑elephant conflict, showing how the technology stretches beyond roads and industry.
The region was recognised as a high performer among landlocked areas in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s LEADS 2025 assessment, showing its early adoption of the framework.
Officials from DPIIT and NLDSL attended the workshop, joined by representatives from Bihar, Odisha, Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, indicating broader interest in the model.
With the new agreements, the government expects greater access to integrated spatial and logistics information while planning roads, connectivity corridors, industrial zones and other infrastructure, a step that could shape future growth patterns.
