A four-day trade event in New Delhi attracted over 65,000 attendees from 700+ towns and cities, establishing it as one of India’s largest gatherings of its kind. The 7th MATECIA Exhibition, running alongside THE WADE ASIA and the India Furniture Conclave from August 20–23, 2026, featured 350+ brands across 500,000 square feet of space. On display were products spanning wood panels, flooring, machinery, and commercial fit-out solutions.

The event’s structure positioned it as a three-part ecosystem for dealers, manufacturers, and architects. While THE WADE ASIA drew designers and industry leaders, MATECIA served as the main platform for B2B dealers and wholesalers. Regional editions in Bengaluru and Kolkata extended its reach to 19 states across South, East, and Northeast India. The national edition alone drew participation from 15+ foreign countries, reinforcing its growing international significance.

Opening ceremonies included industry leaders such as Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt, and Rajesh Mittal, president of FIPPI. Awards were presented by Nandita Das, a filmmaker and actor, and Rupal Dalal, managing director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology. The presence of Dr. Ananta Raghuvanshi, chairperson of NAREDCO MAHI, and Ms. Chitra Jain, president-elect of the same organization, showed the event’s strong ties to India’s real estate and construction sectors.

The exhibition balanced a product showcase with a business-focused platform. Exhibitors displayed over 1,000 items, including plywood, laminates, and turnkey fit-out solutions for commercial and hospitality spaces. Parallel sessions—such as the India Interior Retailing (IIR) Conference & Awards and the India Furniture Conclave—covered topics from global craftsmanship trends to sustainable urban development challenges.

One session, “Luxury Furniture: Craftsmanship and Quality Making Indian Brands Global,” explored how Indian manufacturers could compete internationally through quality and design. Another, “Turnkey Fit-Outs: Workspaces, Commercial, Hospitality,” addressed the rising demand for integrated solutions in commercial real estate, reflecting India’s expanding office and retail sectors.

Women in Design: Networking and Leadership

THE WADE ASIA had evolved from an awards program into a networking hub for women in architecture and design, with 3,000+ annual entries and 50+ awardees across categories like healthcare interiors, sustainable design, and residential architecture. The SheDesigns National Competition featured finalists in facade design and retail interiors, while a panel on “The Gen Next Women in Real Estate” examined leadership opportunities for younger industry professionals.

Nandita Das, attending as a guest of honor, highlighted the event’s broader impact: “Platforms like THE WADE ASIA are important because when women come together as leaders and professionals, they also bring other women with them. It creates a space to learn, grow, and discover what is possible.” Her comments illustrated how the event functioned not only as a trade show but also as a community builder within design and construction.

The combination of product innovation and industry dialogue distinguished MATECIA from similar events. While trade shows often prioritize sales, this edition included structured discussions on market volatility, craftsmanship, and sustainability, topics aligned with India’s evolving construction and interior design sector. The Material Technology Conference (MTC), held concurrently, provided deeper technical exchanges on emerging materials and urban planning.

Business Growth and Partnership Focus

Pragat Dvivedi, director of MATECIA, noted that “the quality of business conversations and the strong interest in new products” reflected sector growth. He added that the response validated the need for platforms supporting long-term partnerships over short-term transactions.

The next East & Northeast regional event is scheduled for February 12–14, 2027, in Kolkata, marking the exhibition’s continued expansion. With the national edition now concluded, organizers are focusing on scaling these regional editions, targeting states with high demand for building materials and interiors.

Sustainable Materials Drive Industry Innovation

The Material Technology Conference (MTC) complemented the exhibition by diving into emerging materials and construction innovations. Sessions covered sustainable building products like recycled composites and low-VOC finishes, alongside smart materials for urban infrastructure. Industry experts presented case studies on technologies such as self-healing concrete and modular construction systems, now being adopted in India’s real estate boom. The conference also addressed regulatory challenges, including compliance with green building certifications like GRIHA and LEED, which are increasingly required for large-scale projects.

Simultaneously, the India Furniture Conclave addressed manufacturing trends and export potential for Indian furniture brands. A session on supply chain resilience analyzed how disruptions, from raw material shortages to logistical delays, had reshaped production strategies. Speakers highlighted the rise of domestic manufacturing hubs in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, where incentives for furniture clusters were attracting investment.
