Why the Homebuilding Industry Is Hot Now

A number of the large home construction companies reported March quarter results last week.

Beazer Homes BZH beat earnings estimated by 34.5% on revenue that beat by 4.1%.

DR Horton DHI posted a sales surprise of 21.6% and its earnings surprise was doubly as strong at 43.7%.

PulteGroup’s PHM earnings surprise was also a spectacular 32.0%, especially since it came on top of a revenue surprise of over 9%.

Not to be outdone, M/I Homes MHO posted a revenue surprise of 27.0% that generated an earnings surprise of 54.2%.

The Colorado Association of Realtors is holding its spring summit this week at the Four Seasons in Vail. Local broker Sara Hoodicoff will co-chair one of the meetings at the three-day event.

Hoodicoff, a broker with Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties, will co-chair a discussion for the group’s Global Committee. Hoodicoff has sold property in three countries and has earned the designation of Certified International Property Specialist.

Plane crash victims known for good works in Hamilton County

A private plane crash in Florida claimed the lives of two Hamilton County married couples widely known for their religious faith, civic engagement and business acumen.

The accident in the Gulf of Mexico near Venice killed William Lumpkin, 64, and Patricia Lumpkin, 68, of Fishers; and Ricky Beaver, 60, and Elizabeth Beaver, 57, of Noblesville, according to the Venice Police Department.

Hoping to save a long-neglected Black burial ground in Northeast Philly

The Byberry Township African American Burial Ground has no tombstones, grave markers, or signs of any kind. Title searchers have been unable to locate a dead to the property.
